I attended the 3rd Annual Heroes and Human Rights concert given by the Virginia Symphony on Friday, March 3. The concert started at 10:00 a.m. At this time there were many high school students there. The music was very inspirational because its purpose was to show you through music how the Americans struggled for civil rights. First the conductor came out. His name was Wes Kenny. The audience greeted him as he walked out and directed a piece. I can't recall the name for the piece, but it was very unique and strong. My favorite part of the concert was when they played the piece on civil rights in the remembrance of the 1989 Tianan men square massacre. One of the lead dancers was Elbert Watson, in which the audience gave a standing ovation. I believe that there were four other dancers who assisted him. They danced to the music beautifully. The piece that they danced to was called The Open Field. After that a thirteen year old pianist by the name of Jason Idol played a Beethoven piece. He was very talented for someone his age.
